Dr. Blau was born in Houston, Texas. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, and then attended The University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio. Dr. Blau completed his general surgery residency training in Boston at Tufts Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Robotic and Minimally Invasive Abdominal Surgery at Albany Medical Center, training under one of the nation's leaders in robotic abdominal surgery.

Board certification

Dr. Blau is board eligible in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and his board certification is pending.

Clinical Interests:

Dr. Blau's practice includes general surgery and minimally invasive abdominal surgery. He specializes in robotic abdominal surgery, performing an array of operations. Robotic surgery allows for the use of small incisions, which means less pain after surgery with faster recovery. Dr. Blau performs advanced laparoscopic and robotic abdominal operations which include the following: inguinal (groin) hernia repair, incisional hernia repair, umbilical hernia repair, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, hiatal hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, gallbladder surgery, solid organ surgery, surgery of the small and large intestine, and weight loss surgery including sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass.
