Amy's Story
"Dr. Sandor performed my
gastric bypass on May 24th,
2010.
I started my weight loss
journey 3 months prior by
attending one of his
seminars. I was 25 years old
and super morbidly obese. I
was pre diabetic and
miserable. I felt like I
needed weight loss surgery
because I had exhausted all
my options as far as diets
and was truly ready to take
this life changing step to
get my life back.
At the seminar he
explained about the
procedures he performed and
the pros and cons of each. I
learned about pre surgery
and post surgery life and
felt confident I was ready
to take the next step. A
couple weeks later I had my
first appointment, I was
immediately comfortable with
Dr. Sandor and he answered
all my questions about the
surgery. I weighed 317
pounds on that day and he
took a picture of me and
told me I would never see
that person again.
I proceeded with making
all of my pre op
appointments I needed to get
clearance for my bypass. It
took me about 3 months to
finish my pre op
appointments and get
insurance approval then I
was scheduled for surgery. I
was extremely nervous before
going into the operating
room and he was completely
understanding and
compassionate to my
feelings. The staff at
Winchester hospital was
amazing and Dr. Sandor
checked on me in the
hospital both days I was
there.
Here I am 13 months later
and down 164 pounds with a
normal BMI. I had a pretty
textbook recovery and am
religious about getting
enough protein and taking my
vitamins. This is the best
thing I could have ever done
for myself. It has been an
incredible journey and I now
truly feel like the person I
was meant to be. I feel
amazing and like I have been
given a second chance at
life. I am mindful about
what I eat and enjoy eating
healthily and in moderation.
I run a few days a week,
something I never would have
been able to do before. I
enjoy exercise and am trying
to push myself more and more
to see how much I can
achieve.
I cannot thank Dr Sandor and his staff enough for the information and support they have given me. I am so unbelievably thankful to have had such a skilled and caring surgeon perform my gastric bypass. At my one year appointment he gave me that picture of me at 317 pounds and I truly believe I will never see that person again."
