During these meetings Dr. Sandor reviews the biology of obesity and the rational behind surgical intervention in appropriately selected cases.  Realities versus expectations regarding the Lap-Band procedure and the Roux-Y gastric bypass will be discussed.  Patients who would be potential candidates for surgery, will have a unique opportunity get an insight into the preparation for surgery, perioperative management and postoperative care.  On site registration to the comprehensive surgical weight program of Commonwealth Surgical Associates is available.  There is absolutely no pressure to proceed with surgery for anyone who attends this meeting.

Every other month a support group meeting is held for patients who already underwent surgery.  The support groups are focused at specific problems these patients may experience with management strategies.  Invited speakers often join these groups to cover pertinent topics in nutrition, psychology, post surgical physical therapy and exercise programs, body contouring and recent advances in weight loss surgery.
